Bottlecap Alley Icehouse Grill has two locations, Grapevine and Keller. The other night, four of us braved Grapevine construction to check out the Grapevine location. A friend had raved about its sides and they have a wide selection of burgers, so it seemed like a good place to add to the list.
I ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger and it arrived rather quickly, despite the busy night.
Out of the four of us, none of us were highly impressed with our burgers. It seems that our bar on fabulous burgers continues to get higher and higher. I think mine might have had the most flavor, thanks to the Swiss cheese and the plentiful sauteed mushrooms. The patty was juicy, but lacked seasoning. The bun seemed to be your typical Mrs. Baird's white bun; maybe a bit fluffier, but again, nothing that made it stand out. And that seemed to be the general consensus. The burgers at Bottlecap Alley are pretty generic. Nothing really makes it special. In fact, the comment was made that if you're in the area and want a burger, it would be better to drive about 5 more minutes and end up at Kinkaid's.
The sides, on the other hand, are a different story. We made to sure to order a variety of sides and they were all great. The fresh cut fries were soft with just the right amount of crunchiness. The Double Bacon "Ultimate" Cheese Fries were super yummy! Fresh cut fries covered with bacon, cheddar cheese, and jalapenos served with a side of ranch.
And we can't leave out the beer battered onion rings. Also super yummy with a fabulous flavor.
Until next time...
